About Flamingo Moments
Hi there!
I’m Chris, a mechanical engineer by trade and a memory-maker at heart. Flamingo Moments was born around my beloved mascot, Slappie—the little inflatable flamingo. He isn’t just décor; he’s a symbol of every fun, spontaneous moment we cherish. And Slappie witnesses all of these moments through his cameralens-like eye!I started Flamingo Moments because I realized that every minute, people all over the world are snapping selfies, shooting sunsets and capturing epic festival scenes—and then, most of those clips never see the light of day. They stay forgotten on phones and memory cards. That just didn’t sit right with me.
It's not where you go. It's how you feel for a moment in your life when you're a part of something. And if you find that moment... It lasts forever.

South East Asia Aftermovie
The four-month backpacking trip of Chris, Lars and Simon
How do you put almost four months of traveling to the most beautiful and amazing places in the world together in a short aftermovie? Well... You don't. That's why this one turned out to be half a movie-length one.I watch my masterpiece (until now) once in a while, and I sent it to all people I met during my trip with the time mark when they appeared. Their loving reactions made me emotional and gave me the motivation to actually continue with Flamingo Moments. This trip through South East Asia made me think a lot about what to do with my life. Conclusion: I want everyone to be able to relive their memorable moments with as much joy as I do—in their good times, and their bad times.
You can only feel true highs when you have been in real lows
I am insanely grateful that I have been able to travel to Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam for four months. It is an opportunity that not many people around the world have. I feel very priviliged that I have been born and raised in a western country, where young people have all the options open. We can travel the world, make a little use of the fact that life is so cheap in other places. I hope that everyone traveling somewhere is aware of this privilege, and appreciates the amazing hospitality of locals. And above all, appreciate all those beautifully diverse people, cultures, landscapes, ecosystems, and wildlife around our world!

Zandermovie
In loving memory of one of my dear best friends, Zander Cleassens
This one is for one of my best friends, Zander Cleassens, born on the 12th of August 1999, and who sadly lost his life at the young age of 23 on the 30th of October 2022.After a round over the fair and an amazing night out in our hometown Breda, we all left home. The morning after we got the news that Zander was hit by a taxivan. A few hours later, at 11:12, he lost his life.That life is precious is sometimes learned the hard way. It made me realize it can be gone in an instant. That's why I want to enjoy every moment of it.

Zander was a big fan of Ed Sheeran, and with his red hair he even looked a bit like him. A few weeks before Zander's death, Ed Sheeran released the song Celestial. In our groupchat, Zander mentioned it would be a great song for one of our aftermovies. Little did I know that it would be the song that I would use for the aftermovie of his life: the Zandermovie. It would be the last song of his favorite artist Zander would ever listen to.The first song Ed released after Zander's death was Eyes Closed, about the death of Ed's best friend. I would like to thank Ed for getting us through these hard times together with you, and keeping the memory of our friend alive every time we hear one of your songs.
